He is a tour-de-force actor, especially in “Ma Rainey’s Black... — The film adaptation of August Wilson’s play “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” truly rests on the shoulders of Academy Award winner Viola Davis and her co-star Chadwick Boseman, mostly Boseman. He is a tour-de-force actor, especially in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.” He truly impressed me with his performance as Levee Green. The character is so well-rounded and certainly has an emotional past. The marketing team behind the film is really selling Davis and Boseman for the upcoming award season in early 2021. Honestly for the Oscar for Lead Actor, it could come down to Riz Ahmed for “Sound of Metal” and Chadwick Boseman for “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.” If I had to choose one over the other it would be Boseman for the win. Boseman could win posthumously. He could sweep all award season. He could also be up for Supporting for “Da 5 Bloods.” Anyway, thank you August Wilson. I honestly loved this film more than my most anticipated film of December 2020, “Sound of Metal.” “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” will most likely be on my top 10 films of 2020. 10/10.
